This book gives a vivid impression of James Cook, circumnavigator and discoverer. His career began when he was only 10 years old and apprenticed to a shopkeeper. From there we follow his first seafaring experiences aboard coastal colliers, his developing skills in navigation and mapping and his military experiences under General Wolfe in the taking of Quebec.
