In the preface of the book, Marvin Allen, Editor, writes< "This [book] is written to tell what kind of book the Bible is, how it came together, what its unifying themes are, and what it says to us today." It was written as the first in an eight-volume series of a new Church Study Course offered by the Southern Baptist. Dr. Johnson discusses the Bible as a covenant in two parts, as one book. He discusses the relationship to history, science, and literature. An INTRODUCTION TO THE BIBLE lays a foundation for the seven volmues which follow it.
