the long version

For Love of Liberty, number one in the five-book SEPARATE series, chronicles Lucius Black, star attorney for the New York based Strategy to Constrict the Unilateral Liberty of Religion, SECULAR, who sets out to avenge his ex-wife’s recent conversion to Christ. His assignment: stop City Councilman David Trimble from propagating his religious beliefs to the citizens of Lakeside, MO. The sharp attorney calculates the councilman’s first act of abolishing property taxes equals no funding for public schools forcing every child into a church-run school or home schooled. Local churches and the town’s Chamber create their own gold-backed currency and the police chief advocates 100 per cent gun ownership, Lucius’s boss, Hamilton Fischer, sends ex-con private eye Barry Stones who dies trying to maim the Trimble family on a rain-slick back road. Lucius challenges the councilman’s involvement in the wreck; but the light of David’s testimony shines into the attorney’s dark heart. Lucuis and the police chief battle Fisher and his evil cohorts who die in the spiritual battle outside the Coucilman’s home between. Disbarred in New York for alleged involvement in Fischer’s death, Lucius contemplates joining the Lakeside believer’s attempt to develop a separate Christian nation inside the United States.
