From birth he'd been called Speajs-not. Deaf and mute he lives in a world of silence apart from his people, who later rename him Hunts-Alone for his unsual but successful approach to securing sustenance from the wild game that roams the land. Stronger than his handicap, he finds love, establishes his own lodge, and begins a family of his own-all of which is shattered forever the day the forest people attack his encampment.
