Most governments now recognise the need for public policies designed to help the promotion of quality improvement within the private sector. This book sets out to compare national and selected regional schemes within the twelve EC member countries, and considers awareness of them, their impact in practice, and relative successes and failures. Also considered are initiatives undertaken by the European Commission. This book is based on a 1992 study, conducted as part of the European Monitoring Initiative (EIMS) within the SPRINT Programme of the EC Directorate-General on Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research (DG XIII).
