Lazarsfeld was considered the preeminent woman representative of the Adlerian school of psychotherapy. Between the two World Wars, she worked in the Marriage Advice Bureaux in Vienna, conducted by the school of Alfred Adler, which existed for about ten years before being shut down by the Nazis.
