the long version

Juvenile Non-Fiction This book is a beginners guide to building electronics projects. The Author Harry Zarchy starts by covering the basics of how electricity happens, what is electronics, and how this has affected our world. He then discusses the various tools and components that will be needed to build the projects. And then he goes over techniques that can be used to build the projects. The last half of the book is primarily projects. Most of the circuits in the book a concerned with building radios. You start with a very simple crystal diode receiver and progress to more complex circuits that include regenerative receivers and a simple broadcast oscillator. Mr Zarchy manages to present this material in a concise but fun way. When I was growing up in the 1960's, this was one of my favorite books. It should be noted, however, that some of the circuits may not work very well with modern semiconductor devices. If you have access to old germanium transistors, every thing should work fine.
