The aim of Sigurd Grindheim's study was to understand one particular aspect of Paul's thought: his critique of Jewish confidence in the election of Israel ... the conviction that by virtue of divine election the Jews (or some of them) belong to the people of God and therefore enjoy God's favor. This work is a revised and expanded version of the authorþs dissertation, "Paul's Critique of the Jewish Confidence in the Election of Israel in 2 Corinthians 11:16-12:10 and Philippians 3:1-11." The dissertation was accepted by the faculty of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Theological Studies in December 2002 -- Scope & Preface.
