The war seemed far away at times but lately a group of men known as Quantrill's Raiders had been terrorizing the Kansas countryside. Even though Barney Todd knew these men were dangerous, he figured such a large band would be easy to spot and avoid. What he really worried about were renegade Kiowa who had been seen wandering far afield from their usual hunting grounds. But a driver never has much choice. His job is to take the stage to its appointed destination and arrive with passengers and mail intact. Barney knew how to do that and had his trusted friend Sun Qi to help. On this trip, Barney encounters more obstacles that he wants to see. With a rookie shotgun and some tenderfoot passengers, he must face the dangers of a land where the best shots and the fastest horses decide what law and order will be.
