Experimental studies of Vierendeel beam analysis

This thesis reports on stress testing in a lab of steel beams with rectangular openings through the web (known as Vierendeel). Such beams are commonly used in structures for HVAC and other large ducts. Test results are then correlated to Vierendeel-truss analysis. This matrix analysis uses the displacement method on indeterminate structures. Included are photos of the test specimen, graphic presentations of test results, and the Matrix Analysis program.
