Miss Roxanne Franklin, a provincial miss at her first Season in London, felt sure Lord Stanwyck was gammoning her when he offered her his unofficial guardianship. But no sooner had Roxanne accustomed herself to Stanwyck's presence than the tables turned. The beautiful Drusilla Goodheart, for whom Stanwyck had long worn the willow, was returned from America and very available. Roxanne's own sudden inheritance made her an heiress worth notice on the marriage mart, a circumstance she would have liked to share with Stanwyck, if only he came to call....
