the long version

Ever since they were children, playing Mary and Joseph in the school nativity play, Breda Hanney and Warren Pascoe knew they were destined to become man and wife. Now, in 1943, with only days to go to the wedding, the dreaded telegram arrives - Warren's ship has sunk and he has been killed in action. The wedding ceremony must be changed to a memorial service. Distraught by grief, Breda vows she will never fall in love again, but life has a strange way of turning things around. The arrival of Warren's cousin Max gives Breda a second chance - if she is willing to take it.
