The political entity of BODOLAND in the northeastern state of Assam in India is a 8,970 Sq. Km. region spread over four newly re-organised districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri. Its two National Parks and many other protected areas are home to a very large number of animals, amphibians, insects and bird species, many of threatened world wide. Bodoland has a rich history and cultural heritage that has survived through the centuries. It is a land of colourful tribes, festivals, song and dance. This book by Dushyant Parasher traces the history of Bodo people from legends to the contemporary times in a very readable manner. The coffee table size book is also very elaborately illustrated with excellent pictures by the author who is one of India’s leading nature and wildlife photographers.
