With her schooldays in Paris behind her, Elise could hardly wait for her return to Jamaica to be reunited with Jacques, from whom she had been parted for too many years. Jacques, her childhood sweetheart, to whom she would soon be married. But Elise was to find reality very different from the dreams she had cherished.
