the long version
In The Shadow of a People's President By Evans Gunalal Cooray. This book was much more enjoyble than any other autobiography as it brought more knowledge and insight into inside politics and the complex nature of the problems our politicians face. The author is actually not up to elougizing President Premadasa or whitewashing his weaknesses. With a mature and restrained approach he focuses on his strong points and shortcomings. Discriminative wisdom, will power, philosophical insight, generosity and friendship of President Premadasa is beautifully described by him. However, he regrets for the late President's weakness in uncompromising addiction to his own views.
