the long version

In London, Richard and Sarah meet, fall in love, and marry. When they decide to escape the rat race and buy a cottage in the Suffolk village of Worth, they're hard-pressed to find friends. But a friendship develops between them and their new neighbour. Catherine, a single woman, admires their love for each other, whilst they admire her uncompromising nature. And on sleepy weekday nights, the trio's pastime IS each other. A delightful friendship ensues - yet Catherine's evasive manner begins to make them feel uneasy. The rural idyll fades, Richard struggles to find work, and when Sarah takes a job with a woman she meets at a conference, the couple are drawn deeper into the life of their neighbour - deeper than they could ever imagine.
