The trial of Sacco and Vanzetti in 1921 for the murder of a paymaster and his guard in South Braintree, Massachusetts, has been a cause celebre for nearly a century. Because they were professional anarchists, it has been passionately argued that they never were legally proved guilty; that they were convicted and executed for their political opinions. Author Montgomery, an attorney, knew many of the principals of the trial and of the final review in 1927.
