The back cover of the October, 1942 edition says: "It offers a wide assortment of tried and tested recipes." The book was first published during the war years, when the use of certain materials was restricted: "In order to cooperate with the government's war effort, this book has been made in strict conformity with WPB regulations restriting the use of certain materials". It contains many of our family favourites that our mum used to make for us.
