**W. J. Wintle** (1861-1934), full name **William James Wintle**, wrote extensively for both newspapers and magazines in the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. Wide-ranging in his interests, he produced books on subjects as diverse as Prince Albert, Florence Nightingale, and old English songs. *Armenia and Its Sorrows* (1896) is one of his most notable works.
