Since the introduction of urinary stents in 1970, urological stents have gained rapid momentum in the armamentarium of urologists, interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons. The list of existing stents is increasingly taking the place of various open surgical procedures or are becoming adjuncts to new therapeutic regimes.
