An evocation of rural Kent in the 1950s ... When, fresh from a boys-only public school, 16-year-old Graham opts to become a novice farmer, he is quickly plunged into a world of completely new experiences. Shy and knowing nothing of girls, he encounters the friendly banter and innuendo of his co-workers who, in the course of showing him the ropes, also set him up for his first sexual experience. Flattened by a herd of bullocks on his first morning, he quickly learns how to fork potatoes, cut cabbages and feed the cattle - in all weathers.
