This book is an introduction to the fundamental problems and issues of epistemology. It assumes no prior knowledge of the subject and is therefore ideal as a core text for beginning students. Professor Landesman takes the reader through a discussion of the basis of human knowledge in sense-perception and the accuracy of sense-perception in conveying knowledge of the external world. He then goes on to explore the problem of skepticism, the nature of self-knowledge, the validity of induction and the ethics of belief.
