Cara is horrified when Wolf Dair takes her and his small daughter, Diane, to the wilds of Scotland. Has he abducted the girl from her mother, his estranged wife? Cara finally resolves to return Diane to her mother in South Africa. They have almost completed the long journey when her doubts begin to confound her.
