All of them became valuable citizens of their adopted country. not only because they took full advantage of the privileges of citizenship, but also because they willingly assumed the responsibilities of that citizenship. They have contributed to every phase of American life: art, music, industry, agriculture, science, politics, literature. In each case the author has traced the beginnings and early life of the citizen, his coming to this country, and the contribution he has made to our way of life. America has profited enormously form the work of her immigrants. This book brings recognition to these American citizens of foreign birth whose contributions to our country are too often overlooked.
