This book is aimed at the neophyte indexer and the practitioner as a guide to the fundamentals of indexing and abstracting. In this new edition chapters have been rewritten and new materials have been added, including discussions of indexing on the Internet and image indexing, because this is where major developments are now occurring. As in previous editions no knowledge of indexing and/or abstracting is assumed and the step-by-step examples and explanations are given with this in mind.
