Die " Junge Schule" der französischen Marine
Sobre o livro
The term "Junge Schule" means in English "Young School" and is the German translation from the original French expression "Jeune École" and means a thinktank of various military people at the end of the 19th century in France. Volkmar Bueb studied the original sources in French language. His book is written in German language (with French quotations). He described the tendency in French navy to save costs and realize the unthinkable to become more competitive against the British Royal Navy. A swarm of torpedo boats was designed to attack battle ships and dreadnoughts. Smaller and speedy boats were to be constructed to devastate the coasts. At the begin of the 20th century the truth came out that French navy efforts to realize "Jeune École" had failed. But some of the ideas of the "Jeune École" were adopted and developped by other navies in the 20th century, e. g. submarines with torpedos. This book is a all-embracing approach to amalgamate and streamline the French dispersed documents.
