Auf der Jagd is one of the most amazing books I own. Rien Poortvliet had an eye for detail, but also for life, and his paintings showed it. The book is filled with the trials and disappointments of hunting, but also takes a look at the successes and failures with a glint in his eye. You do not have to read German to enjoy the book as each of the sketches and paintings tell the everyday life of the neighbor next door and the little boy down the street.
