The book reviews 5 centuries of the history of the State of Mexico throughout it mostimportant buildings and monuments. The selections was not based on architectural, artistic o aesthetic value, the buildings were selected for their intrinsic historic characteristicsand their reference to the past, placing these monuments as historical documents that reconstructthe social sectors, the transportation as well as the economical process of the haciendas, trapiches, factories, etc. from the 16th to the 21st century. Pre-Columbian architecture is notreviewed in this edition as the book was conceived as a supplement of the cataloguing and classification conservation works of historic monuments conducted at present by the stategovernment and INAH and all prehispanic architecture is considered archaeological patrimonysubject to a different legislation for their study and conservation.
