Six ghost stories

Written originally for the author's home circle, these stories are the *parergon*, or by-play, of a writer on more serious subjects. Some of the ghosts are malevolent, others not. One story is based on the superstition of Italian peasantry, and the cult of witchcraft and incantation known to be still practised among them.
