Beginning with the fundamental principles, it progresses to the application of advanced technology, covering in great detail mechanisms such as, in engines, variable valve timing and fuel injection and, in the section on chassis, automatic transmission and anti-lock braking. Some short historical notes are also included as introductions to many of these aspects of design.
