Down by the River

Olive A Wadsworth's classic nursery poem, "Over in the Meadow," was written in the late 1800s and is based on a traditional Southern Appalachian counting rhyme. Sara Donkersloot and Dale Preston have created a northern version of this timeless favorite using the animals found along Alaska’s many rivers. From Mother Moose with her single calf, to Mother Mink with her little kits ten, young children will want to hear this wonderful book read aloud again and again. As children sing or recite the verses, they learn to count and also learn more about Alaska plants, fish, and animals.
