This book explores the political and economic consequences of this type of investment in six countries located in the Global South. Qualitative country comparisons are presented by region: Thailand and the Philippines in Southeast Asia, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire in Africa and Costa Rica and Guatemala in Central America.
