This is the memoirs of Annie Jones AKA Cider Annie and tells of her life as a shopkeeper at Moorhouse Place (also known as Delph end) Pudsey in West Yorkshire. I lived in the tiny hamlet her shop served, and knew her well. I was born on the kitchen table at 44 Moorhouse place Pudsey West Yorkshire. It was called Moorhouse Place because the original owner of the shop was Mary Moorhouse. Annie was known as "cider Annie" because although she only had a beer "off" license, she ran the shop as a small pub for "select" customers (them 'as new) after hours, and would sell a single cigarette and a match for a penny. She had barrels of beer on a wide shelf behind the counter and customers would sit on the slide top animal feed bins opposite the counter to drink their beer. She watched the mills of Pudsey come and go, and often supplied me with a bag of bent nails and bits of string for "den building" I cannot seem to get my hands on a copy of this book, I am still looking.
