North sea requiem

When a small-town Scottish woman discovers a severed leg in the field hockey team's laundry, it's a big scoop for the Highland Gazette and its small 1950s community. But reporter Joanne Ross is pursuing her own front-page story: Mae Bell, an American jazz singer whose husband disappeared in an aircraft accident five years ago, is searching the Highlands for his colleagues. Then the woman who discovered the limb suffers a brutal attack after receiving threatening letters -- which Mae Bell and the Gazette also received.
