IMMIGRANTS AND ALIENS: A GUIDE TO SOURCES ON THE UK IMMIGRATION AND CITIZENSHIP

the long version

"The purpose of this book is to help researchers appreciate and understand the wide variety of records concerning immigrants and aliens held at The National Archives and at other archives. The intended audience includes genealogists seeking information relating to their own ancestry as well as social and economic historians interested in the history of immigration, and its impact on British society over the past eight hundred years. This second edition of the guide has been produced to include new sources--both original and secondary, including many available on the internet"--Introd.
