The red ribbon

"The Red Ribbon" is the tale of a very sad kingdom whose happiness is restored when a Weaver's magical red ribbons brings people together. As citizens stand side by side holding up their part of the ribbon, they begin to work together. Then they discover the magic isn't in the ribbon after all but in the "hands & hearts of those who embrace it." The beautifully illustrated storybook has won numerous awards, including a book award for outstanding contribution to children's literature from Church & Synagogue Library Association, a national Addy Award & a Benny. National Family Partnership, a nonprofit whose mission is drug prevention, published the book as a tool for parents & teachers because although it makes no mention of drugs, it is a pro-active, practical & entertaining way to instill in children the values which will safeguard them against potential abuse. The book's theme is the heart of prevention: prevention begins with families & communities joining together to make a difference. Adults & children, drawn to the captivating story & appealing illustrations, find it is a "story of hope."
