Emil Nolde: Retrospective

Emil Nolde (1867-1956) is internationally renowned for his paintings of vibrant seas of flowers and wild coastal landscapes. The present volume focuses attention on his complete oeuvre. A number of hitherto unknown paintings open up surprising perspectives on the painters achievement. The essays take into account current research and examine questions of reception and self-representation as well as Nolde's attitude to National Socialism.
