the long version
The book is a detailed and well illustrated comparative anatomy of the domestic animals, including avian anatomy (domestic fowl). Its last edition was published in Germany by Springer Verlag, in 1943, right in the middle of World War II. After the war, the original 1943 publication was difficult to find and copies were made of this original 1943 edition. These copies lacked the clarity of the beautiful illustrations of the original and, I think, that the print and figures were slightly smaller.
