Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams

Reinforced concrete deep beams are increasingly used as essential components in the construction of tall buildings, offshore structures, and complex foundation systems throughout the world. Country-specific codes do not yet cover deep beams, and therefore it is anticipated that this book will become a standard work of reference on the subject. The contents of the book have been chosen with the following main aims: to review the present coverage of the major design codes and the CIRIA guide, and to explain the fundamental behaviour of deep beams; to provide information on design topics which are inadequately covered by the current codes and design manuals; and to give authoritative reviews of some powerful concepts and techniques for the design and analysis of deep beams.
