Looking at small houses designed by skillful architects is often more gratifying than viewing their large-scale projects. The New American Cottage fully explores thirty of these small-scale residential projects, most under 2,000 square feet. Among the outstanding architects whose work is featured are The Miller Hull Partnership, Dean Wolf Architects, Gluckman Mayner, Charles Warren, Lubowicki Lanier Architects, and Salmela Architects. While many of these individuals and firms are well known, this book also features a number of architects whose work is being presented for the first time in a national publication. Many of the projects were completed during the past year. Each house is presented as a case study that includes interior and exterior photographs, floor plans, construction drawings, and details of special features. The highly informative text describes the owner's requirements and how the architect satisfies those needs. It includes technical information, major building materials, and suppliers.
