Sobre o livro

Harun Farocki is one of Germany's most respected filmmakers, artists and writers. Farocki's essay films question the production and perception of images, decoding the medium of film and examining how audiovisual culture relates to politics, technology and war. This first major UK retrospective of his films includes screenings of Videograms of a Revolution, Farocki's iconic collaboration with Andrei Ujica concerning the 1989 Romanian revolution, and and five British premieres, including the award winning Respite, which revisits footage of Westerbork, the Dutch transit camp, filmed in May 1944, and A Day In the Life of A Consumer, an epic portrait of consumer society constructed entirely from advertisements. The season will also include presentations by Georges Didi-Huberman on 13 November and The Otolith Group on 27 November. Curated by Stuart Comer, Antje Ehmann and The Otolith Group. With support from Goethe-Institut London, in collaboration with Art Monthly. Presented in conjunction with Against What? Against Whom?, a survey of Farocki's multi-screen film installations at Raven Row.--Tate website.
