For Liz Baxter, high school graduation is supposed to be the beginning of a brighter future. She'll marry the love of her life, Drew, move onto his family's farm, and live happily ever after. But when news of a draft comes to the small town of Shelby, Montana, it quickly turns the lovebirds’ fairy tale ending on its head. When Drew is called to serve in World War II, he immediately fears he won’t come back alive. So, trying to save Liz the pain, he breaks it off and tells her not to wait for him—a decision that leaves his high school sweetheart heartbroken and uncertain of her future. Now, Drew is gone and Liz finds herself facing even greater problems when she realizes she is expecting a baby. Unable and unwilling to tell Drew or his parents, the young woman must come to terms with some difficult decisions that could shape her own life…and the future of her unborn child.
