A string of very funny stories about the twelve year old Tony Morland, whose escapades at school and at school earn him many friends. His main antagonists are the schoolmasters and Matron. His chief vice, his tongue. It runs away with him. Although on the surface a light hearted series of juvenile stories, this book is a link with the earlier, more frivolous, romantces to the later, bulkier and rather darker later novels in Thirkell's Barsetshire series.
