Ben Saddler, sometime soldier of the Confederate Army, has had many jobs: scout, gambler, barkeep, deputy sheriff, road agent, cowboy and now whiskey runner, and is trying to scrape a living in the Indian Territories. His life takes an unexpected turn when he suddenly finds himself with responsibility for a little girl. Somehow he must escort her to safety through the territories; evade capture by the law, outgun those who would kill him, and negotiate his way through an Indian uprising. Will he succeed and unite the child with her family?
