The salon was a precursor and inspiration for the MacDowell colony and this charming reproduction of an original daybook gift from the time includes artwork by Childe Hassam, musical inscriptions from Edward MacDowell, and poetry from Celia Thaxter. The author has augmented the original with historical photos and his own text. The full effect is a genuine tour back through the time as revealed by the many renowned artists who were also good friends.
