Évolution d'un habitat
Sobre o livro
In 1964, Stanley Ira Hallet, a Peace Corps Volunteer architect in Tunisia, was fascinated by the traditional housing forms of Southern Tunisia. He approached Père André Louis, an ethno-anthropologist priest to help him better understand these complex village typologies. Together they developed a unique explanation of the village forms encountered, sharing perspectives drawn from both disciplines. Unfortunately, Père Louis died during the process of publication and the original material and notes were lost. After 40 years, this book finally has gathered together these early observations, photographs and plans critical to those interested in the history and evolution of traditional habitats. Stanley Ira Hallet is a Professor Emeritus of Architecture and former Dean of the School of Architecture at The Catholic University of America. As Fulbright Lecturer in Afghanistan in 1972, he wrote with co-author Rafi Samizay and students “The Traditional Architecture of Afghanistan”. Today he specializes in cultural studies and is currently head of the design studios in Paris. He lectures and writes on topics as diverse as Islamic architecture, cultural studies and more recently, issues in architecture and the cinema. Recognized by his peers, he is an award-winning architect and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
