Willing to admit I am no literary critic or that I have read so many books. I don't even know if the following statement seems ridiculous: 'If there was any decent amount of editing, Hemmingway would be no sui generis at all. This book could easily have been the style he sought to achieve and perhaps even surpassed what he had in mind considering he was a reporter.' I have thoroughly enjoyed Hemmingway but I think even the guy that got drunk just one time would see that his invention was like Newton to Leibniz if he were aware of the diary.
