When their boss, a disreputable cow trader named Larramore, skips out, owning them six months wages, and heads for San Angelo, Johnny Fristo and Speck Quitman, two young, hard-working cowboys and inseparable friends with vastly different personalities, set out to pursue their sneaky employer to get the money they are owed.
