In a modern world of exotic and desirable image, where the trade of cultural differences is becoming increasingly important folk art from Ayacucho in Peru conveys visual representations that reflect the imaginary of Indianness and at the same time, the contest. The book explores the genesis and evolution of the social category of Indianness retracing the steps of the passage of this production, the traditional ritual context the urban market and tourism, international migration processes in projects of contemporary ethnic art, to the on line marketplace.
