Black artists have been making major contributions to the British art scene for decades, since at least the middle of the 20th century. Sometimes, these artists - with backgrounds in the countries of Africa, the Caribbean, and South Asia - were regarded and embraced as British practitioners of note and merit. Black Artists in British Art represents a timely and important contribution to British art history.
